replace missing teeth permanently with dental implants

Replacing missing teeth with dental implants restores your ability to eat and speak
comfortably with a complete smile you will love sharing with the world. Dental implants also
improve and protect your oral and overall health.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are permanent replacements for missing or damaged teeth. The implant itself is a titanium or zirconia screw placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. It is an anchor for a dental restoration that replaces the visible portion of the missing tooth. When the restoration crown or prosthetic is attached to the implant screw, the final result looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Dental implants offer a long-term solution, often lasting 30 years or more. For many patients, they provide a sense of security and confidence, knowing they have a permanent solution for their missing teeth.
  • Implants stimulate the jawbone like tooth roots, preventing bone atrophy that can lead to a sunken facial appearance.
  • Dental implants allow you to eat all the foods you love without the limits often required when wearing dentures.
  • Dental implants are designed for comfort. Once they have healed and the permanent restorations are attached, they feel just like natural teeth. There is no shifting or slipping, allowing you to relax and enjoy your restored smile.
  • Dental implants can be cared for just like natural teeth. No special routines or cleaners are needed.
  • Dental implant restorations will not strain, discolor, or develop cavities.
  • You will have a beautiful, healthy smile.

The Dental Implant Procedure

The dental implant procedure requires multiple steps. During implant surgery, we precisely place the implants in the jawbone to maximize bone density and provide a stable foundation for the restorations. The implants will fuse with the jawbone over 2-6 months. During this healing period, the permanent restorations are designed and created. When the implants are fully healed, the restorations are permanently attached. Please visit our Dental Implant Placement Process page for a more detailed explanation of the procedure.

dental Implant options we offer

We offer several types of dental implant solutions in our Philadelphia office, including:

  • Full Mouth Dental Implants to replace the full arch of upper or lower teeth.
  • Snap-On Implant Dentures that snap onto bars or posts attached to implants for stability. These are removable for cleaning and sleeping.
  • Single Implants to replace a tooth that is damaged or has been knocked out.

Why Choose a periodontist for Dental  Implants?

Putting your trust in a periodontist for dental implant placement ensures optimal results for many reasons. Dr. Friedman or Dr. Freedman has performed countless dental implant procedures backed by education, training, and experience that other dental professionals do not have.

  • Periodontists receive additional training in the structure of the teeth and gums when studying the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. They become experts at understanding everything about the teeth and gums, from the crown to the jawbone and gums.
  • Periodontists are outstanding surgeons. While dentists may occasionally do simple tooth extractions, periodontists regularly perform complex surgical procedures on the gums, teeth, and jawbone. When a periodontist places your dental implants, you will receive excellent periodontal care as well, greatly reducing the risk of implant failure.
  • Our periodontists keep current with the latest technologies and techniques in periodontal care and surgery. Advanced 3D imaging, surgical guides, and modern implant materials are all utilized in our Philadelphia and Warminster offices to ensure amazing results.

Do You Qualify for Dental Implants?

Dental implants may be right for you if you are missing one or more teeth, are interested in a permanent solution, and are in good overall health. However, if you have any active dental issues such as periodontal disease, these will need to be treated before beginning the implant procedure.

Some individuals are not good candidates, including those with uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders, or certain immune diseases. Heavy smokers are also not good candidates, as smoking interferes with the healing process and increases the risk of implant failure.

If you are interested in dental implants, the first step is to have an evaluation by one of our periodontists. They will determine whether implants are the right solution for your missing teeth. Dr. Friedman does superb and meticulous work; everyone in the office is friendly, helpful, and on top of their game. I had a dental implant done by Dr. Friedman and it couldn't have gone any better. He provided clear explanations each step of the way, his staff always followed up to check on how I was doing after each procedure, they were knowledgeable about costs and insurance, and their communication was excellent. Dr. Friedman takes a lot of pride in his work and makes sure that everything is done right, a true professional, as well as very personable.

Patient Review from Marsela D

Doctor Friedman is amazing. He is very kind and patient. He and his team were extremely professional and took time to explain every step of the procedure and recovery process. The implant was quick and painless. I am typically a very bad patient and had been recommended to him from my husband who is a general dentist. I would like to thank you for the great experience. If I could give a 10 ⭐ that is what I would have picked. I definitely recommend this practice.

Patient Review from Joe A

This morning was my third implant procedure at Periodontal Services. I cannot recommend anyone more highly that the folks here. The doctors and staff are always pleasant, professional and attentive. From the initial appointment, through extraction, bone grafting and insertion of the implant, everything has always gone smoothly. I hope I never need another implant, but if I do, I will be sure to return to Periodontal Services.

Patient Review from Alfred T

Friendly, trouble-free implant procedure(s). Impressed (no pun intended) by the modern technology! This was not my first implant, but the first one needed fixing, and Dr. Friedman took care of that. The second one is all his, and has been an easier experience than I had with the first.
